Ploughing 2015

Event Speaker

Ploughing 2015

Well it is safe to say I am one tired bunny! Have just done my first Ploughing Championships and it is everything I had been told it would be. Hugely exhilarating, exhausting & exciting…..

I nipped down on the Saturday to get things set up and thankfully after making friends with the construction crew managed to score myself some handy bits n bobs to help with my display.

Rugby World Cup fever was also high so was delighted to have a chance to talk tactics with Sean O’Brien (well his poster anyway!!).

I was set up in the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena  as I was very lucky to be a finalist in their Innovation Awards which were being run in association with The Farmers Journal and National Ploughing Association. So I had to make sure I looked my very best and to be ready to get #farmsafety out to as many of the 250,000 expected attendees as I could.

As part of the opportunity to be a finalist I also made it to the final 8 to be enter the ‘Dragons Den’, (absolutely terrifying!!), but hey, you gotta challenge yourself in this world especially if you have set out to make a difference.

My ‘Dragons’ were representatives from Agri Media, Agri Business and from Enterprise Ireland too – MC for the event
was Mairead Lavery from Irish Country Living, and I still remember smiling through panicked teeth when she told me I was first up!

Now I didn’t win, but I did ok and had I known I would be up on a 30ft big screen for all to see outdoors it could’ve been much worse as the nerves would certainly have gotten the best of me!!

Speaking about not winning, I didn’t manage to win an overall accolade in the Innovation Awards but (and as cliche as it sounds), it was an amazing journey and thrill to be taking part.
