2021 marks the 9th annual Farm Safety Week UK & Ireland, an initiative created by the Yellow Wellies Organisation in the UK led by the IFA in Ireland, aiming to reduce the number of accidents on farms and bring about a change in culture that makes unsafe practices socially unacceptable.
AgriKids and Duhallow IRD have teamed up this Farm Safety Week to run a series of webinars for children. Presented by AgriKids Founder, Alma Jordan and supported by Flogas, the events will run over three days and over an array of topics such as farmyard safety, recognising key animal behaviours and welfare as well as the all important farm vehicle and machinery safety.

Junior event (4-7yo): 10.00am: Farm Safe Story Time: Farmer and Farmyard safety
Children will enjoy a story-time session and will learn key tips on preparing for a farm visit, signage safety, electricity and how farmers keep themselves healthy in order to do their job.
Senior event (8-12yo): 11.00 am: Farmer and Farmyard safety
Children will learn key tips on preparing for a farm visit, signage safety, electricity and slurry safety as well as how farmers keep themselves healthy in order to do their job.

Junior event (4-7yo): Farm Safe Story Time: Animal Safety
Children will enjoy a story-time session and will learn key tips on recognising animal behaviours which could be threatening, how to handle animals with care and avoiding zoonotic diseases.
Senior event (8-12yo): 11.00 am: Animal Safety
Children will learn key tips on recognising animal behaviours which could be threatening, how to handle and work with animals and avoiding zoonotic diseases.

Junior event (4-7yo): Farm Safe Story Time: Vehicle and Machinery Safety
Children will enjoy a story-time session and will learn how to recognise and keep away from tractor blind spots. Also learning key tips on how farmers stay safe with tractors, quads and using accessories such as a PTO.
Senior event (8-12yo): 11.00 am: Vehicle and Machinery Safety
Children will learn how to recognise and keep away from tractor blind spots, what checks are necessary to keep tractors in sound working order while also learning key tips on how farmers stay safe with tractors, quads and using accessories such as a PTO.
