If you love looking at the cows or watching a tractor at work, than you are an AgriKid!

Farms are great! There are Tractors, combine harvesters, moo moos (sorry we mean cows!), muck spreaders, chickens, do we need to go on? We love farms and life in the countryside, it's all there to enjoy and explore.

But we also want you to stay safe and to know when to play and when to stay away!

AgriKids is a farm safety educational platform with the ethos to engage, educate and empower children to be our farm safety ambassadors.

So next time you are out and about on or near a farm take the time to chat about how you can be #farmsafe. Take care and be on the look-out for danger -

My granny Kennedy always said ‘where there’s muck there’s luck!’

I am a farmer’s wife from Co. Meath, Ireland. From as far back as I can remember, outdoors was the only way to play. Living on a farm meant there was always plenty of room and plenty to do.

But I am also passionate about keeping safe when on the farm or when out enjoying the countryside.

I founded AgriKids in late 2014 in the midst of Ireland’s worst year on record for farm safety. I wanted a new approach to farm safety awareness. An approach that would positively engage, educate and empower young children to be our farm safety ambassadors.

In the summer of 2015 I published the first in our series of farm safety story books entitled ‘Tales from Riverside Farm’. Each story deals with the area of farm safety in an engaging and entertaining format and is told through the adventures and exploits of Tom and Sarah and their magical friend, Mr. Brambles, the hedge sprite. Have you ever heard of a hedge sprite?

No!

Well then let me tell you all about them. Hedge sprites are nothing like those bossy fairies, who spend their days collecting old teeth and making a nuisance of themselves. Hedge Sprites spend their days mixing magical potions that make all the flowers smell wonderful.

One night Tom & Sarah rescue Mr. Brambles, he is so grateful that he makes them a special promise – to keep them safe.

Living on a farm means that a tricky situation is never far away and it is not long until Tom & Sarah must call on their little friend.

The Tree Swing - Tales from Riverside Farm

Tales From Riverside Farm uses entertaining and engaging stories to pass on the farm safety message in a positive way.

Written by Alma Jordan and beautifully illustrated by Martin Beckett, the series of storybooks is for children aged 4+ and chronicles the adventures of Tom, Sarah and their friend Mr Brambles, a magical hedge sprite who mustn't be seen by grown-ups.
